Hey, I’m Grace.
Get to know me and why I would be a valuable addition to your team.
My Philosophy
I aim to take on roles that allow me to serve, assist and uplift others to the best of my ability. I take pride in working for companies whose values and approaches to service I can support wholeheartedly.
I am interested in working with teams who put an emphasis on consistent professional development. I believe that every member of a team, from an entry-level member to the chief executive, should always be aiming to gain new skills and polish already obtained ones. While prior experience is important, a willingness to learn and immerse oneself in gaining new skills is of equal importance.
Professional Bio
I first declared that I wanted to be a lawyer at the age of eleven. While that declaration may have been based on my introduction to the movie Legally Blonde, it grew over the next ten years into a very strong and more realistic passion. Throughout high school I researched and explored different potential career paths, but I always came right back to law and politics.
I was sure to explore what a career in law truly entailed, away from the cinematic depictions I had previously fallen in love with. What I found was a career path that I was equally passionate about pursuing. What I love most about law is how many different types there are and avenues you can take within the career. Additionally I love how law is a career you can practice anywhere.
While in college I studied political science which merged my interest in politics while still taking classes in intros to law. I began an internship working for the Senate Majority Party in the Maine State House my last semester of college. This internship gave me a first hand view into the creation of new laws, which I believe was an invaluable experience in creating greater respect for the legal system and the basis for which law is built upon entirely.
Currently, I hope to pursue a position as a legal assistant or paralegal in order to get a more entry-level view of the legal field. I believe that having experience in other positions within the legal field prior to law school will ensure that I get a much more well-rounded view as I continue my education. I have plans to attend law school within a couple years, but I would first like to join a team that encourages professional development to help me feel ready for that next step. In return I plan to provide a new team with my willingness to learn, participate, and grow to help that company achieve their goals and serve its overall purpose to help others.
What I’ve Learned
-
Ski Instructor
The most valuable lesson that I learned during my four years as a ski instructor was the importance of constant professional and personal development. Every Saturday, during ski season, our ski school required the ski/snowboard instructors to attend an hour long skills development session. These sessions taught me new skills that not only improved my own skiing but also improved my ability to teach others more effectively. This sessions helped me gain a love of constantly refining my skills in every role I take on.
-
Barista/ Nutrition Assistant
The most valuable lesson I learned at Hometown was how to form and maintain strong professional relationships. Working as a barista at a small business typically meant seeing the same customers everyday. Not only did I need to know customers drink orders the moment they walked in, I also knew the events of their personal lives they would share with me. I could rejoice with customers about accomplished milestones or sympathize with recent losses and experience everything in between with each of our regulars. I learned how to represent as the face of the company by not just providing good customer service, but also creating a genuine and welcoming environment where members of the community could get their drink while also getting to feel how much we valued their business.
-
Formal Stylist
The most valuable lesson that I learned at Grayce Bridal and Formal was how to provide unbeatable service. I had already worked in customer service for five years prior to beginning my journey at Grayce, but nowhere else did I truly develop my understanding or service like I did there. Even though, while working there, the wedding dress/prom dress shopping experience became typical to my life, it was frequently one of the most valuable shopping experiences of some of our prom girls/brides lives. Serving, celebrating and empowering every bride/ prom girl like they were the only one in the world is the common practice at Grayce. Not only is it the basis of value at our company to treat each person who walks in our doors that way, but it is something that I genuinely could feel as a member of that team. Learning how to truly serve someone and care about their goals and concerns was an invaluable experience.
About Me
-
Travel
My overall biggest passion is travel. My current goal is to travel to at least 5/7 continents before beginning law school. I currently have traveled to Europe and South America. My all-time favorite place I have ever traveled is the Patagonia region of Argentina.
-
Sailing
One of my favorite summertime activities is sailing. My family has owned sailboats since I’ve been born and my father is a licensed captain. I’ve had the opportunity to sail down the east coast and additionally sail for six weeks around the Bahamas.
-
Skiing
Having been a ski instructor for four years, it’s no surprise that skiing is one of my favorite activities. While I don’t get the opportunity to hit the slopes as much as I used to, I still make it a priority every winter to take at least a few ski trips.
Q & A
-
I would be willing to relocate for any position that I find that would fulfill my personal philosophy. While I love living in Maine, and would be willing to continue to do so, I would also appreciate an opportunity to immerse myself in a new place.
